General Course Overview:
Examine the operations of the Real Estate Industry; and the laws that govern its operations in Pennsylvania. The course will supplement the textbook with practical illustrations of how procedures are implemented in the industry.

Required Text Book:
Modern Real Estate Practice in Pennsylvania, 10th edition. Thomas J. Bellairs, James L. Helsel Jr., James L. Goldsmith Esq., Jim Skindzier, DREI, Consulting Editor

We will concentrate on section 2 of the Text, Chapters 14-22.

Objectives:

  1. Provide a theoretical and practical understanding of the Pennsylvania Real Estate Industry.
  2. Provide hands on experience in performing the various tasks of Pennsylvania Realtors, such as, preparing agreement of sales, buyer representation contracts; listing contracts; negotiating commissions and other paperwork involved in real estate transaction, landlord/tenant relations, as it pertains to property management.

Method of Instruction:

  1. The primary method of instruction will be interactive lecture, which will include discussion and feedback from students, reading and understanding of chapters in the book, quizzes and final exam.

Absences:

  1. If you miss class for a valid reason, please notify the instructor in advance. Real Estate Commission does not allow you to miss more than 20% of class time.

Grading:
10% Attendance & Participation- Attending class on time. Participation means being prepared to discuss the assigned materials, providing comments, feedback, answering questions.
20% Quizzes- Advance notice of quizzes will be given.
70% Final Exam
